BILATERAL EYEBROW RECONSTRUCTION WITH SUPERFICIAL TEMPORAL ARTERY ISLAND FLAP

Abstract
Eyebrow reconstruction is one of the procedures which is essential for the improvement of facial esthetics. For the reconstruction of eyebrow, composite strip graft, micrograft and superficial temporal artery island flap are frequently used, Among them, proper procedure should be selected with the consideration of size and shape of normal eyebrow, defect size, sex and vascularity of recipient site.
We used superficial temporal artery island flaps in three male patients. For the first patient, one stage bilateral and subtotal reconstruction was performed with two separated scalp flaps which were based on right superficial temporal vessels. For the second patient, long axis of scalp flap was designed vertically on right side and horizontally on left side according to the direction of the scalp hair. For the third patient, right eyebrow was reconstructed with strip scalp graft because of traumatic loss of right superficial temporal artery and the result was not so good as left side, which was reconstructed with left superficial temporal artery island flap.
